Commentary
The inscription, found at Teos like all those belonging to the asylia dossier, consistently presents the name of Palla instead of Malla. No town with the name Palla is known in Crete, so it is generally agreed that it should be corrected to Malla. Conversely, the designation of the two envoys is not consistent: they appear as both πρεγγευταί and πρεσβευταί. This is probably a sign of the loss of vitality of the Cretan dialect under the pressure of the koine.Authors
